Family Vacation: The Drive Home

Little Adventures

Little Adventures

We like to take the back roads when traveling, which can sometimes led to fun adventures. On June 4, While driving through Pennsylvania on our way home we found a fun little creek for the kids to play in. It was really fun, until Payton slipped on a rock and became muddy and wet, but at least he didn’t bang his head up. The creek had a mineral spring at it as well and it was fun to show the kids what the water looked like coming out of the mineral springs.

On June 5th with explored Ohio’s Amish country. We had a great time staying in “Little Switzerland” and we were even able to see what the town of Sugarcreek claims is the world’s largest cuckoo clock (though I remember a German village claiming the same thing). It was so fun to feel like we were back home in Europe, even if it was only for a day.

After spending time in Amish country we head to the covered bridges of Indiana. We enjoyed driving over the old bridges and seeing some of our countries great engineering.

The last day of our trip, June 6, we meet Aunt Alisha and her kids in Hannibal, Missouri to tour the Mark Twain Caves together. The kids enjoyed the tour through the cave and learning more about the caves that Mark Twain based some of his stories from.
