Take Me Out to the Ball Game

DSCN3601

Night At the Ball Park

At school the kids participated in the “hit the books” program and each earned free tickets to an Omaha Storm Chasers game. So we decided a night at the ball park sounded like a good idea. The only down fall was it was COLD. We did enjoy watching the game, especially the inning where the Storm Chasers scored 4 runs! We left before the game was over, because it is a school night. But did find out the the Storm Chasers ended winning the game 4 to 2.

DSCN3600The best part of berm seating (seats on the grass), is that the kids are able to run around and have some fun when the game may get a little slow…which rarely happens in baseball.  DSCN3603

Easter 2015

DSCN3551

This Easter the whole Hibbs family came to our house! Even great grandma Tessie Hibbs came and celebrated the weekend with us! Unfortunately, Craig was on alert, but we did have the opportunity to talk to him. Everyone LOVED spending time with the cousins and we are so very grateful the weather was nice so they could run and play outside and keep some of the noise outside.

Hunting with Papa

Wauryn had a little trouble understanding what was supposed to happen, so Papa tried to teach him to put the eggs in the basket. Wauryn would put a couple in, then he would take them back out, hand them to Papa and put them back in again. So though he didn’t get many eggs he enjoyed getting them, putting them in, handing them to Papa and starting all over again.

Beautiful Eggs

I think most everyone else had the idea of how it worked, in fact some of the older kids found so many that we decided to take all the candy back and divide it a little more evenly. (our kiddos don’t normally get anything but hard boil eggs to find, so the were ecstatic when they found there were plastic eggs with candy in them!)

With it also being General Conference weekend, we had to come up with a way to keep all those children paying attention-ish and staying somewhat quiet. Well what do you do, you put the lady who has been in the most primary presidencies in charge. Aunt Alisha did great! She had packets for each child…except Wauryn of course…and this amazing General Conference board, now I want one of those!

Another thing that is important is to keep those kiddos feed! We ate lots and had lots of fun this weekend!

Spring Break w/ Grandma & Papa Booth

Chimney Rock

Chimney Rock

For spring break we headed towards Wyoming. On our way, we stopped by Chimney Rock. The kids decided that it looks like a pinkie being held up. We had fun looking at it, but I think everyone was a little disappointed that they don’t allow you walk up to it. The best part of all was learning a little more about the state we live in now.

When we first arrived in Wyoming we stayed in Cheyenne with Craig’s Aunt Verena and Uncle Terry. We had fun seeing them and the kids loved playing with cousin Ben and Uncle Hyrum. After Papa was done with his science symposium we headed up to Upton. We had lots of fun spending time with Papa and Grandma! Of course we had to go fishing, though we didn’t catch anything, it is always fun to try. We had a good time exploring and playing.

Tired, Tired, Kiddos

You can tell the kids played super hard and were tired kiddos at the end of the days.

On our way home, we stopped by Mt. Rushmore. Payton and Addyline have both recently studied the history of Mt. Rushmore in school so they loved being able to see it. We especially loved having the “hiking” trail all to ourselves and seeing mountain goats up near the visitors center. (On a side note, Addyline is not taller than Mom yet, she was standing on a rock…though she does have only four inches to go!)

Flat Kailey, Crazy Hair, and Chess

Cousin Kailey H. sent us “Flat Kailey” to show around to fun and interesting places, so we took her to Offutt AFB and the Omaha Zoo. We had fun seeing planes and rockets and we never get tired of going to the zoo. We were glad for our opportunity to be reminded of all the fun places near home.

For our school’s spirit week we participated in crazy hair day. The kids really enjoyed doing their hair crazy and even Berlynn participated here at home. IMG_1767

Payton and Addyline have been participating in chess club all school year. They participated in their first chess meet today. Both did a great job! Addyline had many tough games and it came down to the bitter end with only a few pieces left. She put up some great games but in the end came up 5th place out of 8 at her table. Payton also did an excellent job and enjoyed playing in his first tournament. In the end he ended up getting 2nd place at his table!

Sandhill Cranes

DSCN3336

We decided to surprise the children and head out on a quick little road trip. We have heard lots about the sandhill crane migration that happens twice a year. The cranes fly from as far north as Siberia and south as Mexico and all of these birds (hundreds of thousands) gather on a small section of the Platte River in Nebraska. It was a great experience for us as a family to have. Especially since Addyline has been learning Nebraska history in school and they just completed a unit on the sandhill cranes.

On Friday evening we saw the cranes come in to roost on the river for the night. On Saturday we explored the local area near Kearney and while walking along the Platte River we even were able to see the a spring calf be born.

Random Happenings of February 2015

We have had lots of fun finishing the winter season off. Mom was volunteered to be the room parent for Addyline’s class and was very relieved when the final party of the year was over. We celebrated Valentine’s Day and Mrs. Jacobson’s first baby.

Berlynn loves dressing up and putting on make-up. Often she has Addyline help her, but this time she did it all on her own. Doesn’t she look wonderful!

For Payton’s Blue and Gold banquet the cubs became “mad scientists” and taught everyone different things of science. Below is a picture of Payton teaching everyone how to get a paper clip to float.

This month Addyline had her fourth grade music concert. She was chosen to be one of the kids who introduced different songs. She did a great job and everything sounded wonderful!

Finally one of the best thing of all. Lots of kisses from our littlest man…and of course Berlynn couldn’t be left out so she joins in.

We had several snow days this week. It started on Sunday when we couldn’t get out for Stake Conference. Then went into Monday when school was canceled due to the snow (we sent Dad in a taxi to the airport to head to the D.C. area). It then snowed again and school was canceled on Wednesday! We had fun days playing in the snow!

On Friday we went to the Orme’s to go sledding down their hill. It was a perfect day to sled, the weather was warmer but there was still lots of snow! (Be sure to check out the kids faces in the pictures.)

Today Berlynn wanted to have a tea party with daddy. So they did, they enjoyed delicious apple cider and lovely clothes.
