Today Captain Moroni finally received his well deserved promotion! We had fun celebrating together as a family this morning before Craig left on his plane for a double alert.  Craig along with another team member were promoted by Colonel Rogers, NAOC team 2 team chief. After the very short ceremony due to the teams’ mission, we celebrated by eating yummy donuts and fruit before the team headed off to fly. It was very nice to have Grandma and Papa here for the celebrations and to spend some time with us over the weekend.

Grandma and Papa Hibbs came up to spend the weekend with us and we were able to go to the last day of the Kanesville Gingerbread Display. (We went on the first day for the ribbon cutting and now on the last day) We had fun doing the scavenger hunt with Grandma and Papa and of course showing them the gingerbread temple that we made.

New Year’s Eve Fun

Happy 2015!

Happy 2015!

We had a day full of fun. It started by dropping dad off at work then heading to the zoo for the “Noon Year Eve” celebration. We meet our friends the Orme family there. It was fun seeing different animals and being apart of the ball drop.

After gathering up as many balls as we could manage to carry, we headed back to base to pick dad up from work. The rest of the day was filled with fun and games and yummy food. We enjoyed the first New Year’s Eve where more of our kids made it to midnight than didn’t. We had three different “midnights” starting at 7:30 for baby Wauryn, another at 10 pm for Berlynn and finally actual midnight for the rest of us.

Christmas on the Farm

IMG_2269With 20 people in the house it was a crowded, loud and joyful Christmas day. Luckily most people where healthy (though Aunt Mary has us all a little worried with her wicked high blood pressure 200 something over really high 100 something). It was a very wonderful, but not quiet Christmas day. Enjoy the photos of our chaos.

Christmas Eve

IMG_2251

This year we headed down to Norwich for Christmas, it was the first time in over 6 years that we were all home for Christmas. We had a fun time decorating cookies, singing, and looking at all the Christmas lights in Norwich (this took all of about 5 minutes…including stopping and caroling for 2 families).

Minivan Express

We had a very fun Saturday. We started the day by heading to the BX to get the last of our Christmas shopping. We were surprised to find Santa at the BX and were able to get a picture with him. The kids have enjoyed seeing Santa all around town lately!

BX Santa-3After a busy shopping day we sent the kiddos to bed early, where they discovered golden tickets for the minivan express! So after changing into our pajamas, we all headed to the minivan express to go look at Christmas lights and go drink cocoa and eat pie! It was a fun and delicious evening.

Tree Decorating and Crashing

IMG_2208

Between church and the First Presidency Christmas devotional we decided to decorate the Christmas tree. It was a great time and by the end the tree looked pretty good. IMG_2216 IMG_2213 IMG_2210After decorating the tree we enjoyed laying down under the tree and admiring the beauty of the tree. It was fun watching the kids as they started to see the magic of the season.

After decorating and seeing all the pretty lights dance on the ceiling we went into the back rooms to get ready for our new neighbors to come over to watch the Christmas devotional. When all of a sudden we hear Addyline say “the tree fell over, the tree fell over!” Well it made for some exciting times and we gave a very chaotic first impression to our new neighbors. With their help we were able to get the tree back up, but it had to be very crooked to be stable, and luckily no one was hurt and only one decoration was broken.

O Christmas Tree

Today was a busy day finding a Christmas tree and taking some family pictures. We started early and faced the cold to take some much overdue family photos (I think the last time we had a family photo Berlynn was around 1 years old). We then ended the day taking a few more. I think that considering we were using a tripod to take these pictures it was a miracle that we got so many with most everyone looking.bench vignette  bridge knealing lomobridge B&W 1 triangle vignetteThe middle of the day was spent doing some Christmas shopping for cousins and extended family and Christmas tree finding. We found a Christmas tree farm near our stake center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The kids loving looking up and down the hill for just the right tree (the fact that it was on a slight hill didn’t seem to matter at the time). We did eventually find what the kids thought would be the perfect tree. So down it came and then while the staff wrapped the tree for us, we went to see Santa. IMG_2126

Everyone enjoyed seeing Santa, even Wauryn seemed not to mind his first meeting with the jolly old elf. One of the best moments was when Santa asked Addyline what she wanted for Christmas and she replied, “I just want my brothers and I to be good and helpful to my mom.” What a little sweetheart.
