Operation Read

Posted under Uncategorized No Comments

I choose to participate in the Operation Read program. To participate I had to read all the books nominated for the Golden Sower award (in the intermediate list). The books I read where:

Malcom at Midnight by W. H. Beck
A Diamond in the Desert by Kathryn Fitzmaurice
Tuesdays at the Castle by Jessica Day George
The Adventures of Beanboy by Lisa Harkrader
Eight Keys by Suzanne LaFleur
The Underdogs by Mike Lupica
Kindred Souls by Patricia MacLachlan
The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielsen
Jake and Lilly by Jerry Spinelli
Three Times Lucky by Sheila Turnage

My favorite books were Three Times Lucky, The False Prince and Tuesdays at the Castle. In Tuesdays at the Castle a toy lion turns into a live griffon that saves the princess. I like The False Prince, because one of the “false” princes who was trying to pretend to be the prince ended up being the actual princess, I didn’t see that coming at all. In Three Times Lucky, Mo found out who was the murderer and also found out the Colonel was a lawyer. It was a great mystery!

Operation Read is a competition where schools get together (grade 4-6) and have fun answering questions about the books they have read. This helps influence the love of reading. Our group made it into the finals, we missed only 2 questions during the first stage. During the finals we missed 4. We ended up not placing, but we had a good time anyways.

I'm 10!

Today I turned 10! To celebrate I was able to have 2 friends over for a little party. We had fun playing outside and eating cake!

To Addyline, “Congratulations! Your poster was selected from over 2,800 entries. You are cordially invited to attend the Zoo Poster Contest Party and Awards Ceremony.” -Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium

Addyline had a great time at the Zoo Poster Contest Party, she didn’t make it past the semi-finals, but we are so proud of her and her artistic ability. Way to go! After the Party and Awards ceremony we booked it over the the Pinewood Derby. You can read about it here.

I love drawing and some day would love to be an artist. Here is a picture I drew of my family this spring while at school.

My Baptism

Posted under Uncategorized No Comments

Today I got baptized. My Dad baptized me. When I came out of the water I felt warm inside and also when I got out of the water I couldn’t feel the water running down my back because I felt so good inside. I had a good baptism. I had fun. It was even better because some of my family was there including my cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. I’m glad they could see me get baptized. I hope everyone else who believes in Jesus Christ can get baptized too. Including my kids and their kids after that.

Addy has been learning about volcanoes in class and she worked hard to build her on volcano to share with the class. It looked great and erupted for the longest out of all the class. “Science is my favorite!”

7 Year’s Old & Wiser Too

It is hard to believe that Addy is already 7! She is becoming such the little lady. For her birthday day we went to J.R. rockers on base and enjoyed yummy hamburgers. We were even able to send skype messages to Daddy from the dinner celebration.

The next day there was no school so we were able to have Addy’s birthday party with her friends. Addy choose a bowling birthday party and was allowed to invite 3 friends (besides her siblings of course). We had a great time and we loved that our firends were able to come and play. We were also glad Giuliana was able to come and help wrangle in all the kids. Here are some fun pictures of our time!

1st Day of 1st Grade

Today Addy had her first day of school. She was so excited for her first day of first grade! I can’t believe we already have a big first grader!

Once again Addy is taking the bus. She will ride the first week by herself and then next week Payton will join her. And of course her school bus isn’t the typical “yellow school bus”. I think when we move back to the states they will be shocked to see that school buses look different than the city buses. We are lucky that we have a good bus driver and a good bus “commander” (the security monitor). Payton can’t wait until next week when he can join Addy on the bus.

At Lunch With Daddy

Posted under Uncategorized 1 Comment

Daddy came to lunch with me at school. It was fun to have him come and bring me a special meal from Burger King. We have a short lunch period, which means we have to eat quickly. We also have to be quiet at lunch. If we get too loud the cone on our table gets turned to yellow, which means “caution” quiet down. If it gets turned to red or “stop” we are not allowed to talk at all. But even with the rules of being quiet, lunch is one of my favorite parts of the day.
